This is Sportstar's match blog/highlights of the ISL 2020-21 match between Chennaiyin FC and ATK Mohun Bagan .

That's it for today. Thanks for tuning in!

Too many chances were wasted throughout the game as it ends goalless. Chennaiyin FC and ATK Mohun Bagan get a point each from this outing. But both of them could have sealed the deal at various points.

Antonio Habas' ATKMB moves to the top of the points table now, with 17 points from eight matches. Meanwhile, Csaba Laszlo's CFC stays seventh with 10 points, having played the exact same number of fixtures.

MATCH REPORT |

ATK Mohun Bagan midfielder Edu Garcia wins the 'Winning Pass of the Game' award, while his teammate and goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharja takes home the 'Hero of the Match' honour.

ATKMB manager Antonio Habas: I think a draw is a good result for us. Today, we didn't perform to our best ability and I'm not entirely happy with my team. I think Chennai was the better team. They had more chances to score than us. I can't expect my players to always be at their best because this is a long league. But hopefully they do better in the next match. If you can't win, it's always important to get a point. So I'm happy about that aspect. I'm glad that we've moved to the top of the 2020-21 ISL standings. Hope the fans are happy.

CFC head coach Csaba Laszlo: We had 55% possession and seven shots on target but we couldn't score. I'm actually proud of my team because they played a team like ATKMB after just two days' rest. Today, it was a very good football game. It was enjoyable for the fans. We had the chance to finish the year with a victory. But you saw their goalkeeper was the best player on the pitch. However, tactically this was one of the best games for my team. If two teams play like this you have to be happy for Indian Football, immaterial of the result.

Reaction from both the camps coming up next.....

84' CHANCE FOR ATKMB! Prabir Das passes the ball to Roy Krishna from the right wing. But Krishna hits the ball straight towards CFC keeper Vishal Kaith.

82' CORNER FOR CFC! Reagan Singh takes it. His cross into the box is met by an Eli Sabia header on target. But once again Arindam makes a crucial save.

80' ANOTHER AMAZING SAVE FROM ARINDAM! The ATKMB goalkeeper has made a big difference so far. Reagan Singh received the ball on the right flank, moved forward and had a shot on target for CFC. Arindam executed a brilliant dive to his right to avert the danger for his side.

78' CLOSE! Edu Garcia with a good move for Mohun Bagan. He beats Chennaiyin's Deepak Tangri in midfield and sends a through ball towards Roy Krishna into the box. But the ball was a bit too powerful as keeper Vishal Kaith collects it.

75' And it's time for the final cooling break of the match!

72' FREE-KICK FOR CFC! Roy Krishna commits the foul and Anirudh Thapa will take the set-piece. CHANCE! The centre-back duo of Tiri and Sandesh Jhingan communicate well to deal with the danger for ATKMB.

69' DOUBLE CHANGES FOR ATKMB! Head coach Habas brings on Jayesh Rane and Prabir Das for Manvir Singh and Pronay Halder in the middle. Will this make a difference for Mohun Bagan?

67' SUBSTITUTION FOR CFC! Manager Laszlo brings in Deepak Tangri for the injured skipper Rafael Crivellaro. Anirudh Thapa will now take up Crivellaro's position, while Tangri will play in Thapa's place.

65' FREE-KICK FOR CFC! In the absence of Crivellaro, Memo Moura and Anirudh Thapa are prime candidates to take this set-piece. Moura ends up taking it. VERY CLOSE! Arindam makes another good save for ATKMB as it was a powerful shot on target.

62' YELLOW CARD! This is the first booking of the game. ATKMB's Pronay Halder comes up with a terrible tackle on CFC captain Crivellaro, who goes down to the ground. The referee books Halder and the Chennaiyin FC medical staff come into the field.

59' SHOT! Jakub Sylvestr gets the ball outside the box for CFC. He has support on either side but he goes for glory. Arindam makes one more save for ATKMB. A huge opportunity has been wasted by Sylvestr.

57' Chennaiyin FC has been much more efficient in the final third during this game. Meanwhile, ATK Mohun Bagan has had more shots but the team's chances so far haven't been clear-cut. Otherwise, this is an evenly-poised match.

55' ANOTHER SAVE FROM ARINDAM! This one is pretty straightforward. CFC's Memo Moura took a shot from long and it was an easy collection of the ball for the ATKMB shot-stopper.

51' WHAT A SAVE!!! ATKMB keeper Arindam Bhattacharja dives to his left to deny CFC winger Lallianzuala Chhangte. His Chennaiyin counterpart Vishal Kaith had sent a long ball towards Chhangte from the other end. The Indian forward received it, rushed forward and had a shot on target only for Arindam to pull off a remarkable save.

48' No changes from either side so far. Both managers -- Antonio Lopez Habas (ATKMB) and Csaba Laszlo (CFC) -- are waiting it out. Mohun Bagan has dominated the early exchanges in the second half.

THE SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY!

Don't let the scoreline fool you because this has been a good game, with several chances for both teams. Despite the end-to-end stuff, ATK Mohun Bagan and Chennaiyin FC have not been able to find the back of the net. Rafael Crivellaro came close to scoring for CFC early on, while ATKMB was denied a clear penalty. Forty-five minutes to go. Stay tuned! HT: CHENNAIYIN FC 0 - 0 ATK MOHUN BAGAN.

AND IT'S HALF-TIME!!

45' Two minutes of stoppage time to be added on at the end of the first half. It looks like the opening 45 minutes are going to end without a goal.

43' FREE-KICK FOR CFC! Crivellaro sends in a cross towards Memo Moura at the far post. Moura then directs the ball towards Enes Sipovic, who hits it straight at ATKMB custodian Arindam Bhattacharja from close range.

41' SHOT! Mohun Bagan midfielder McHugh receives the ball just outside the Chennai box and lets one fly. However, CFC goalkeeper Vishal Kaith makes a straightforward save.

38' CORNER FOR CFC! ATKMB forward David Williams heads a Rahim Ali cross out for a corner. CLOSE! Crivellaro tries to go for goal directly but he could only find the top of the net.

35' TACKLE! This looked like a foul but Chennaiyin FC doesn't get a free-kick. Jakub Sylvestr goes to the ground due to a tackle from ATK Mohun Bagan defender Tiri. Play continues as the CFC man stays on the ground.

32' And it's time for the cooling break now!

29' WAS THAT A PENALTY FOR ATKMB??!!!  Edu Garcia sent a brilliant ball into the box from the right wing. David Williams was rushing the get to it. But Reagan Singh tackles him from behind after he gets a touch on the ball. The referee says no spot-kick but replays show that it was a clear foul.

26' FOUL! Chennaiyin FC striker Jakub Sylvestr comes up with a nasty foul on ATK Mohun Bagan midfielder Carl McHugh. He's extremely lucky to not be booked by the referee.

24' FREE-KICK FOR ATKMB! Crivellaro takes out Roy Krishna from behind. The Fijian striker is in pain. The referee awards a set-piece against CFC. But Mohun Bagan wastes the opportunity.

21' OFFSIDE! This looked like a great chance. Roy Krishna was in a good position as he hit the side netting. But the linesman had raised his flag much earlier.

19' CROSS! Mohun Bagan forward Manvir Singh receives the ball in midfield from Roy Krishna and makes a run forward on the right flank. But his low cross into the box is easily cleared by Eli Sabia.

17' This game has been neck-to-neck so far. However, Chennaiyin FC has created the better chances. ATK Mohun Bagan won't be too worried because the team is known to play from the back.

14' FIRST CORNER OF THE GAME FOR CFC! Crivellaro will take it as expected. His initial cross is cleared away by Subhasish Bose. The Chennai skipper gets the ball back and squares the ball towards Anirudh Thapa. But Manvir Singh regains possession for ATKMB.

10' FREE-KICK FOR ATKMB! Edu Garcia will take it. He sends in a dangerous ball towards Roy Krishna but CFC defender Eli Sabia gets to it first and clears the danger.

7' ANOTHER CFC CHANCE! Crivellaro gets the ball outside the box and lays it through on the left for Lallianzuala Chhangte, who misses the target with a powerful shot.

He does all the hard work, gets into the box and fires one straight at Mohun Bagan keeper Arindam Bhattacharja. He played a brilliant one-two pass with Jakub Sylvestr, just moments ago.

1' EARLY CORNER FOR ATKMB! Edu Garcia will take the set-piece. He sends in a decent cross into the box and Manvir Singh connects with the header at the near post. But the ball goes out of play for a CFC goalkick.

The Indian Super League (ISL 2020-21) marks the return of major league competition in India after the nationwide lockdown to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak was first imposed in March.

The seventh edition of the ISL got underway inside a bio-bubble in Goa on November 20.

ISL 2020-21 points table

The tournament, spanning over four months, will see 11 teams play each other in a league and playoff format across three venues. Following the inclusion of SC East Bengal, this season will feature 115 games, up from 95 last season.

MATCH PREVIEW:

Fresh after a 10-day break, ATK Mohun Bagan will want to finish 2020 on a high and pocket three points to take the sole-lead in the points table when it takes on Chennaiyin FC at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Tuesday.

The Mariners are currently on 16 points, tied with league-toppers Mumbai City FC, and would hope to take advantage of the misfiring Marina Machans, playing their second match in just four days.

Coach Antonio Habas, however, is not taking things for granted saying, “Chennaiyin have very good players and it is going to be a hard game for us. My team is going to have to concentrate throughout the match.”

His side's opponent on the night -- CFC -- though has several issues on its hands. The main problem has been its inability to convert chances with strikers fluffing relatively easy opportunities in the final third. Slovakia forward Jakub Sylvestr especially has been poor so far this season, and missed a couple of easy chances on Saturday.

In its previous match on Saturday, Chennai allowed SC East Bengal to come back from behind twice and salvage a 2-2 draw due to some extremely poor defending during set-pieces.

Coach Csaba Laszlo clearly stated that his side needs to start converting its chances to stay in the hunt.

“It is incredible the number of chances we create. We have to be converting more of these opportunities. At the same time, I am delighted to see more Indian goalscorers, seeing Rahim Ali and Lallianzuala Chhangte get on the scoresheet is very pleasing. We are working in the right direction, and I am hopeful of a positive result to end the year,” said Laszlo.
