FC Goa’s Ferran Corominas heaped praise on I-League champion Chennai City FC’s attacking football and expects a difficult encounter in the semifinals of the Super Cup on Tuesday in Bhubaneswar.

Corominas converted a penalty which turned out to be the match-winner in the 4-3 quarterfinal defeat of Jamshedpur FC on Saturday, and also took his tournament tally to two goals.

“I watched them play against Bengaluru. I had never seen this team before. I really liked their play. They attack with a lot of quality and play good football. It will be a difficult game but we can play as well,” said Corominas, who is Indian Super League’s all-time leading goal-scorer with 34 goals.

Much like Goa, Chennai City, too, plays an expansive attacking brand of football which would ideally suit a player of Corominas’ attributes. Asked if he looks forward to playing against teams like Chennai City, Coro said, “For us, it’s always the same. We will continue playing our style.”

Last season’s golden boot winner, however, couldn’t manage a single shot on target in the ISL final against Bengaluru FC in Mumbai last month. “In that game, I think we [tried] to take control. But it was bad luck that Bengaluru scored at the death,” he said.

The Spaniard said he has moved on from the last-gasp defeat. “ISL is over now and I don’t care about it anymore. It’s time to look forward to Super Cup. We have a good chance to win this competition.”
