Guiding the United States to its eighth consecutive World Cup semifinal, Megan Rapinoe stole the limelight in the quarterfinal face-off against host nation France on Friday.

Coming into the match, Rapinoe had made the headlines for her response when asked if she would visit the White House should USA retain its title. "I'm not going to the f****** White House. No. I'm not going to the White House. We're not going to be invited," Rapinoe told  Eight by Eight .

But after the match, U.S Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted an invitation to Rapinoe and the US team for a tour of the the House of Representatives.

"It may not be the White House, but we’d be happy to welcome @mPinoe & the entire @USWNT for a tour of the House of Representatives anytime they’d like," AOC tweeted.

Rapinoe accepted the invitation saying, "Consider it done @AOC".

Rapinoe's refusal to visit the White House had sparked reaction from US President Donald Trump.

"Women’s soccer player, @mPinoe, just stated that she is 'not going to the F...ing White House if we win.'" Trump tweeted.

He then moved away from the subject and took aim at the NBA's decision to stop using the term "owner" in the loaded tweet.

"Other than the NBA, which now refuses to call owners, owners (please explain that I just got Criminal Justice Reform passed, Black unemployment is at the lowest level in our Country’s history, and the poverty index is also best number EVER), leagues and teams love coming to the White House," Trump continued.

"I am a big fan of the American Team (sic), and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job!" Trump tweeted. "We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose. Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!"
