Young Manu Bhaker placed on top in both the women’s and junior sections of the 25-metre sports pistol in the shooting National selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Friday.
Manu, who had placed third in both the events earlier on Thursday, beat the champion of the first trial Anisa Sayyed by four points with a total of 37. Qualification topper Heena Sidhu who shot 586, settled
for the fifth place ahead of World Cup gold medallist Rahi Sarnobat.

In the junior section, Manu beat Muskan by three points. Interestingly, Manu had swept all the gold medals in the National championship in air pistol. In the trials also, she had done well to place at the top in air pistol earlier.
In men’s air rifle, it was Akhil Sheoran who topped the second trial, ahead of Tejas Krishna Prasad and Parul Kumar. Deepak Kumar placed fourth while the topper of the first trial Sanjeev Rajput had to
settle for the sixth spot ahead of qualification topper Saurabh Singh (625.8) and Olympian Chain Singh.
