With 18 podium finishes, India is currently placed second in the medal tally behind Korea at the ISSF World Championships in Changwon, Korea. Yes, India's best-ever showing at the premier tournament has pushed China to the third spot, but the country has fared poorly in terms of collecting Olympic tickets. Most of the medals that India have earned have come in the junior events or in non-Olympic events.

As on Thursday, India had managed to confirm just two Olympic berths, with both coming in the same event. There were new additions to that list on Friday as well as none of them made the final in the men's 50m Rifle 3-positions event and the trap mixed team event.

India will desperately be seeking for reversal of fortune on Saturday. A total of eight spots are up for grab on Saturday — women's 50m Rifle 3- positions (four quota places) and 25m pistol women. At the end of the precision stage in the women's 25m pistol, teenager Manu Bhaker was the best-placed Indian, shooting an impressive 294 out of 300 to be among the joint top four scores. Asian Games champion Rahi Sarnobat was lying 27th with 289, while Asiad bronze medallist Heena Sidhu shot 284 to be in 61st position.

In the 50m rifle 3-positions event, all eyes will be on Anjum Moudgil to secure a medal and a quota place for India. The 22-year-old won the silver medal in the 10m air rifle event to secure India's first Olympic berth on Monday. Gayatri Nithyanandram is the other Indian in the fray.
