The seventh seed lost to the fourth-seeded Egyptian Karim Abdel Gawad 11-7, 11-3, 11-8.

Joshna Chinappa moved into the last eight of the Carol Weymuller Open, another PSA event in New York. Joshna, who had a bye in the first round and pre-quarterfinal, beat Egypt’s Marian Metwally 11-3, 6-11, 11-8, 11-5.
