India's only represent in the French Open main draw, Yuki Bhambri, suffered a first round exit as he lost 4-6, 4-6, 1-6 to Ruben Bemelmans on Tuesday.

Yuki got off to a fine start and broke his opponent's first service game, but failed to hold on momentum as Bemelmans staged a double break to surge to a 4-1 lead. The Indian went on to break Bemelmans to make it 4-5 but the latter held serve to take the set 6-4.

Yuki raced to a 4-2 lead in the second set but failed to capitalise as Bemelmans registered a stunning comeback to take the next four games and win the set 6-4.

It was all Bemelmans here on as the Belgian offered Yuki no chance in the third set and sped to a 5-0 lead. Yuki held serve in the sixth game but only managed to delay the inevitable as Bemelmans clinched the next game to seal a first round victory.
