Andy Murray is determined to take more enjoyment from his second Wimbledon title than the first.

When he lifted the trophy in 2013, Murray became the first British male to triumph at the All England Club since Fred Perry in 1936, ending a 77-year wait for glory. Having overcome Milos Raonic 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-2) on Sunday to win Wimbledon for the second time in his career, the world number two is eager to cherish the feeling.

"Last time I was so relieved," said Murray in his post-match interview. "I was nervous today, but [last time] there was so much stress and pressure I didn't get the chance to enjoy it as much, so I make sure I'll enjoy this one for sure."

Murray was beaten by Roger Federer in the 2012 final on Centre Court and has fallen at the semi-final stage on four occasions. Those painful defeats made victory all the more sweet for the Scot.

"It's the most important tournament for me every year. I've had some great moments here and also some tough losses," he said. "The wins feel extra special because of the tough losses, so I'm proud to get my hands on the trophy again. A big thank you to all of my team for the hard work they've put in to helping me get here, a big thank you to my family too."

Murray managed to neutralise Raonic's powerful serve, but he paid tribute to the vast improvements made by the Canadian.

"I played really good stuff, but Milos has had a great few weeks on the grass and had some unbelievable wins," he continued. "His match against Roger [Federer] in the semis was a great, great match. He's one of the harder workers out there, he's always trying to improve and each time we play each other he's made improvements."
