Prajnesh Gunneswaran defeated Jay Clarke 6-4, 6-4 in the second qualifying round of the ATP-1000 tennis tournament in Miami to progress to the main draw. He will take on Jaume Munar in the first round of the main draw on Friday.
India No 1, who reached a career-high rank of 84 earlier this week, started the match on the front foot, breaking the 20-year-old Brit in the first game of the match. He saved two break points in the other games, taking the eighth to love, on his way to sealing the first set 6-4.

The second set also started in the same manner, with Clarke being broken in the first game. At 4-2, the Brit managed to save two break points and win the game but Prajnesh won the next to make it 5-3. Serving for the match at 5-4, Prajnesh took the game to love to seal his progress to the main draw.
This is the 29-year-old's second straight Masters main draw appearance, which comes a week after reaching the third round at Indian Wells.
