From Virginia Wade to Iga Swiatek: US Open women’s singles champions in Open era

Since the beginning of the Open era (1968), 27 different women have won the singles title at US Open with American’s Chris Evert and Serena Williams lifting the winner’s trophy a record six times each.

The US Open 2023 begins on Monday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. in New York with the final set to take place on September 10.

Since the beginning of the Open era (1968), 27 different women have won the singles title at Flushing Meadows.

USA’s Chris Evert and Serena Williams hold the record for most US Open titles (6) won by a woman followed by Steffi Graf (5)

Serena is also the last woman to win two successive titles in New York in 2013-14.
