In the pre-quarterfinals, Yuki will play fourth seed Thomas Fabbiano of Itally, who perspired past Denis Shapovalov of Canada 6-4, 6-7(1), 6-3.

In two other Challenger tournaments in Caltaniessetta, Italy and Lisbon, Portugal, the other Indian Davis Cuppers Ramkumar Ramanathan and Prajnesh Gunneswaran were scheduled to play.

Ramkumar who had won back to back titles in Singapore was scheduled to have his first round on Wednesday, in the € 127,000 event in Italy.

In the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures in Harare, eighth seed Aryan Goveas failed to capitalise on a 3-1 lead in the decider, as he lost the eventual tie-break, against Joshua Howard-Tripp of South Africa. Aryan did well to recover from 3-5 in that third set, winning three games on the trot without conceding a single point, but the South African handled the climax better for a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4) victory in two hours and 20 minutes.

Four time national champion Prerna Bhambri won three rounds to qualify into the main draw of the $15,000 ITF women’s event in Korea.
