Sportstar Aces Awards 2023: Manisha Ramadass wins Sportswoman of the Year (Parasports)

For her standout performance in 2022, Manisha was conferred the Female Para-Badminton Player of the Year award by BWF.

Para badminton player Manisha Ramadass won the Sportstar Aces award for Sportswoman of the Year (Parasports) at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai on Monday.

In 2022, Manisha joined her seniors Manasi Joshi and Pramod Bhagat in winning laurels for India at the international stage.

The 17-year-old enjoyed a great run through the year, winning four gold, including the Para-Badminton World Championships women’s singles title. She also won two silver and bronze medals.

Starting the year with two back-to-back international titles in Spain and Brazil, she clinched the Dubai Para-Badminton International title in May. She was a runner-up at the Bahrain and Canada International tournaments.

Manisha capped off 2022 in style when she was conferred the Female Para-Badminton Player of the Year award by BWF for her standout performances.

Manisha enjoyed success not only in the singles but doubles as well. The Dubai Para Badminton  International was one such case. She joined hands with Mandeep Kaur to outwit Thailand’s Nipada Saensupa and Chanida Srinavakul 21-9, 21-13 and claim the gold.

Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, former India hockey captain M. M. Somaya, chess great Viswanathan Anand, former India football skipper Bhaichung Bhutia, Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra and Olympians Anjali Bhagwat and Aparna Popat are the members of the Sportstar Aces 2023 jury.
