Juan Martin Del Potro in action against Jeremy Chardy

Juan Martin del Potro reached the semi-finals of the Delray Beach Open after a straight-sets victory over Jeremy Chardy on Friday.

Del Potro - playing his first tournament in almost 11 months after overcoming wrist problems - needed just an hour, 20 minutes to get past Chardy 6-2, 6-3 at the ATP 250 tournament.

Despite converting just four out of 14 break-point opportunities, Del Potro proved too good for the French fifth seed as he looks to win a second Delray Beach title.

Waiting for Del Potro in the final four is American Sam Querrey, who overcame countryman Tim Smyczek in three sets.

Querrey rallied to beat Smyczek 6-7 (1-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in Florida.

Despite serving at just 55 per cent, Querrey converted three break points and saved 12 of his own to complete the victory.

Grigor Dimitrov, the highest seed remaining at the tournament, was the first to move into the semi-finals after downing Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 7-5 earlier in the day.

Bulgarian fourth seed Dimitrov won 84 per cent of his first serve points to oust last year's semi-finalist.

Dimitrov will play Rajeev Ram for a spot in the final after the latter rallied past Benjamin Becker 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
