Mikal Bridges capped a 32-point performance by hitting the game-winning jumper with 4.5 seconds left as the visiting Brooklyn Nets outlasted the Atlanta Hawks for a 114-113 victory on Wednesday.
In a game with 15 of its 43 lead changes in the fourth, Bridges provided the final margin by answering a 3-pointer from Trae Young with 17.3 seconds left. Young missed a 17-footer from the left side while being defended by Dennis Smith Jr., ending the game.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, the 43 lead changes represented the highest total in any NBA game since 1996-97, when play-by-play began to be tracked.
Brooklyn’s Cameron Johnson added 17, and Dorian Finney-Smith contributed 15. Young led the Hawks with 30 points.

Joel Embiid had 50 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists to lift Philadelphia past host Washington, ending the 76ers’ two-game skid.
Embiid, who missed the previous two games with an illness, scored at least 50 points in a game for the sixth time in his career. Tyrese Maxey added 26 points and De’Anthony Melton had 19 for Philadelphia.
Jordan Poole put up 23 points and Tyus Jones added 20 for the Wizards, who lost for the 12th time in 13 games.

Stephen Curry saved 22 of his game-high 31 points for the second half, capped by a clinching 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining, and Golden State rallied past Portland in San Francisco.
Draymond Green had 10 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists and three Warriors came off the bench for 12 or more points. Golden State won for the first time this season after trailing at halftime, having gone 0-7 in such contests previously.
In his first game since suffering a torn ligament in his right thumb on opening night, Anfernee Simons poured in 28 points and Shaedon Sharpe had 26 points for the Trail Blazers.

Paul George scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds and James Harden compiled 20 points and 11 assists as Los Angeles beat visiting Denver.
Kawhi Leonard scored 17 points for the Clippers, who defeated the last two NBA champions in succession after coming out on top against the Golden State Warriors 113-112 on Saturday. Norman Powell scored 17 points.
Nikola Jokic delivered his ninth triple-double of the season for the Nuggets, 22 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Jamal Murray scored 23 points while playing for just the second time in the past 15 games.

Donovan Mitchell scored 15 of his 35 points in the first quarter to lift host Cleveland to a victory over Orlando.
Mitchell sank five 3-pointers and added seven rebounds and six assists to help the Cavaliers overcome Paolo Banchero’s career-high 42-point performance.
Darius Garland collected 26 points and nine assists, and Max Strus had 17 points to fuel Cleveland’s eighth win in 11 games. Cole Anthony scored 19 points for Magic, who have lost two in a row on the heels of a franchise high-tying, nine-game winning streak.

Luka Doncic recorded a 29-point triple-double in the first half and finished with 40 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds as Dallas demolished visiting Utah.
Kyrie Irving scored 26 points in the wire-to-wire victory for Dallas, which established a season best for points. The Mavericks led by as many as 52 points while winning for just the third time in the past eight games. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points and Derrick Jones Jr. added 12 for the Mavericks. Seth Curry and Dereck Lively II had 10 points apiece.
Ochai Agbaji scored 21 points for the Jazz, who have lost seven of their past 10 games. Utah has dropped six of its past seven matchups with the Mavericks. Talen Horton-Tucker scored 11 points and John Collins and Taylor Hendricks had 10 apiece for Utah.

DeMar DeRozan scored a game-high 29 points, Nikola Vucevic recorded a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds and Chicago rode third-quarter runs to its third consecutive win with a defeat of visiting Charlotte.
Coby White hit 3 of 7 from 3-point distance en route to 19 points. White also grabbed nine rebounds and dished five assists. Vucevic went 2 of 3 behind the 3-point line, and Ayo Dosunmu and Torrey Craig each made two 3-pointers coming off the bench.
Gordon Hayward led Charlotte with 27 points. Terry Rozier added 25 points in the losing effort despite shooting just 1 of 11 from 3-point range. Miles Bridges finished with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Desmond Bane poured in a career-high 49 points as visiting Memphis handed Detroit an 18th consecutive loss.
Bane made 19 of 31 field-goal attempts, 4 of 8 from 3-point range and all seven of his free throws. He added eight assists and six rebounds. Jaren Jackson Jr. had 24 points and Jaylen Nowell chipped in 12 points for Memphis, which won for the third time in four games.
Bojan Bogdanovic had 22 points and seven assists for the Pistons, whose skid is an ongoing single-season franchise record. Jalen Duren contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds before injuring his ankle late in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Martin scored a season-best 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Miami won at Toronto.
Duncan Robinson added 21 points and Jimmy Butler scored 19 points for the Heat, who have won two of their past three games. Orlando Robinson had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Miami.
Pascal Siakam had 30 points and OG Anunoby added 23 points for the Raptors, who have lost two in a row.
Rockets 110 vs Thunder 101
Dillon Brooks scored 23 points, Aaron Holiday added 22 points off the bench and Alperen Sengun tallied 21 as Houston beat Oklahoma City to extend its home-court winning streak to nine games.
Sengun added six rebounds and seven assists. Jalen Green (15 points) and Fred VanVleet (11 points, nine assists) rounded out the Rockets’ balanced attack.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander paced the Thunder with 33 points -- on 13-for-18 shooting -- plus six assists and six steals. Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren combined for 12 points while missing 15 of 20 shots, though Holmgren blocked six shots.
