Vojvodina Int’l: Indians bag four silver, one bronze

India’s youth boxers won four silver medals and a bronze at the 37th Golden Glove of Vojvodina International — a boxing tournament held in Serbia.

Seloy Soy (49kg), Bilotson L. Singh (56kg), Ajay Kumar (60kg) and Vijaydeep (69kg) fetched silver medals after going down in their respective final bouts held on Sunday.

Soy lost 0-5 to Omer Ametovic, while Singh was beaten by Russian Boris Karibian, again a unanimous verdict. Kumar was also beaten 0-5 by Croat Diego Mamic. Vijaydeep, on the other hand, went down 2-3 to Kazakhstan’s Azamat Bektas.

Earlier in the semifinal, Harsh Gill (91kg) lost to Turkey’s Topaloglu Abuzer to settle for a bronze medal.

The tournament featured 22 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, and Kazakhstan.
