Ding Liren defeated USA’s Samuel Shankland for his second win.

Meanwhile, Viswanathan Anand drew with Anish Giri to reach three points. Magnus Carlsen joined the duo following his first win of the tournament after facing local Jorden van Foreest.

In the Challengers section, R. Praggnanandhaa drew with World junior champion Iran’s Parham Maghsoodhoo to reach two points.
