India’s No. 1 Manika Batra continued her good run as she stormed into the women’s singles semifinals in the XXI Commonwealth Games at the Carrara sports arena here on Thursday.
Batra defeated Yihan Zhou of Singapore 11-5, 11-5, 11-2, 6-11, 11-4 in the quarterfinals in a contest similar to the clash between the two in the team event final. Compatriot Mouma Das, however, fell at the same stage, losing to another Singaporean Yu Mengyu 13-15, 7-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-5.

In men’s singles, all three Indians — Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran — are now through to the quarterfinals to be played on Friday.
