Dinesh Karthik needed just two deliveries to finish the game here on Friday. With a six and a four, Karthik helped India level the T20I series against Australia.

A customised, scenario-based training routine has helped Karthi kbecome an accomplished finisher.

“Over a period of time, I’ve been practising this (finishing skills). I’ve been doing it for Royal Challengers Bangalore, and now I’m doing it here. It’s a consistent routine. When I have time off, I do scenario practices. (India batting coach) Vikram (Rathore) paaji and (India head coach) Rahul (Dravid) bhai have been supportive of how I want to practice. I’m very specific with my practice,” Karthik in a press conference.

Karthik praised Rohit Sharma, who made a classy unbeaten 46. “Rohit Sharma was magical. It was not easy to play those shots against world-class bowlers and the new ball. Rohit’s ability to play fast bowling is second to none in the world,” Karthik said.

The start of the match was delayed due to a wet outfield. Karthik stated that both teams were keen for action to begin, for the city of Nagpur deserved it.

“We were very, very keen to play. There was a big crowd right from our hotel all the way to the stadium. That’s a long drive. With the amount of people at the ground - we knew it would be a special occasion. Both teams were very courageous and kind to have played. The conditions were good, but not the best. Both teams played this game for the city of Nagpur. They came in big numbers, and this was one of the loudest crowds,” Karthik said.
