To help India’s women’s team members gear up for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in the Caribbean, the national selectors have decided to field a full-strength India A side for its Twenty20 series against Australia A.

The three-match series, which begins at the Bandra-Kurla Complex here on Monday, offers the host a good platform to test its strengths and shortcomings.

Kaur to lead

The three-match one-day series between the sides was a one-sided affair, Australia A winning 3-0 . This time, however, the contest is likely to be much closer, with Harmanpreet Kaur leading the side and all the first-choice players playing.

All eyes will be on Harmanpreet, Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj, but the host team will also hope to test its bowling strength before travelling to the Caribbean. A good outing for young all-rounder Jemimah Rodrigues will also augur well for India.

Meanwhile, Australia A will be hoping to maintain its winning run.
