India's Ajinkya Rahane says India would look into this as a two-Test series and hopes he would contribute more with the bat.

Ajinkya Rahane is confident with his batting form in Australia and the right-handed batsman said a big score from him is round the corner.

“I am sure it will come in this match by the way I am batting - from Adelaide to Perth, the mindset I was in to counter attack and the rhythm I was batting with. Maybe a 100 or even a 200 can come,” Rahane said.

“I have to continue batting the way I am. I can read the situation better now and by counter-attacking I can put the opposition on the back-foot. Personal milestones can be achieved later as well but first I need to focus on situations,” he added.

India was expecting a Australia fight back in Perth but Rahane wants the team to now focus on the present.

“We all know how big it is. We really expected Australia to bounce back in Perth. We had our chances in Perth but it is important to stay in the present and give our best starting from the 26th," the India vice-captain said.

R. Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja, who would figure in the playing XI in Melbourne. “We will know on Tuesday. They are  being assessed. Rohit is fit and batted in the nets, he is looking good.”

Rahane said the batting group must support the bowlers, who had been doing a great job in the series. “As a batting group we discuss these things in detail. Since the South Africa tour, the Indian bowlers have consistently got the opposition out twice. If we batters play well and support our bowling unit, the results will be different.”

On the sledging in the Perth Test. “It helps keep Test cricket alive. Whatever happened on the field was really good, competitive and hope you all enjoyed that. For us it is important to stay focussed. You can sledge, but at the same time, have to stay focussed and be competitive," Rahane said.
