Sri Lanka bowlers bore the brunt of a fine innings by Himmat Singh as India thumped the island nation by four wickets at the U-23 Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Colombo on Monday.
This was India’s third consecutive win of the tournament and sits pretty in pole position in Group A.
Sri Lanka opted to bat first after winning the toss and scored 260/7 in 50 overs, with notable contributions from Avishka Fernando and Asela Gunaratne.

Although Shivam Mavi was a bit expensive in his spell, he was the pick, taking three wickets for 62 runs.
Prasidh Krishna took two wickets while Jayant Yadav and Shams Zakir Mulani finished with one apiece.
In reply, India got off to a horrid start, losing Atharwa Taide on the first delivery of the innings. But an unbeaten 126 by Himmat Singh, coming in at No. 4, with able support from Rituraj Gaikwad (67 off 73 balls) and Deepak Hooda (26 off 24 balls), ensured India reached its target with 15 balls to spare.
India takes on Bangladesh in the semifinals on Wednesday.
