IPL auctions: Ins, outs, list of retained players

All eight franchises have released a list of the cricketers traded, retained and released; Royals and Sunrisers have held on to tainted Aussie duo Steve Smith and David Warner respectively.

Defending champion Chennai Super Kings released its foreign pacer Mark Wood, uncapped players Kanishk Seth and Kshitiz Sharma.

Sunrisers Hyderabad traded Shikhar Dhawan to Delhi Daredevils for Abhishek Sharma, Vijay Shankar and Shahbaz Nadeem. The franchise also released eight other players, worth Rs 9.8 crore. The list includes England batsman Alex Hales, Carlos Brathwaite, Chris Jordan and India Test wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who has been out with multiple injuries.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB traded South Africa wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock to Mumbai Indians in a cash deal of Rs 2.8 crore. It also traded batsman Mandeep Singh for Rs 1.4 crore to Kings XI Punjab in exchange of Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

Dhawan (Rs 5.2 crore) came in from Sunrisers Hyderabad; Shankar (Rs 3.2 crore), U-19 batsman Sharma (Rs 55 lakh) and Nadeem (Rs 3.2 crore) were traded.

As the combined value of the players were more than Dhawan’s price; SRH paid DD an extra Rs 1.75 crore to maintain parity.

It retained rookie pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who is still nursing a back injury he picked from the last IPL season, and Karnataka seamer Prasidh Krishna. England pacer Tom Curran, retired Aussie quick Mitchell Johnson, Cameron Delport, Javon Searles — all have been released.

Rajasthan Royals

Jaydev Unadkat’s release is perhaps the biggest news from the Rajasthan franchise as the pacer was bought for a whopping Rs 11.5 crore in the 2018 auction. He couldn’t justify his price and ended the tournament with 11 wickets in 15 games at an economy of Rs 7.80 crore.
