Axar fails to make the most of a full toss, packs it down the ground but it goes to long on on one bounce; just a single. A wide yorker from Sandeep, Stubbs gets an inside edge to square leg for one. Avesh to Axar, FOUR! Caresses the wide yorker through the third man region. A wide to follow. Avesh recovers in the second half of the over, nine runs from it.

IPL 2024: Ricky Ponting and the fourth umpire had an animated conversation about the confusion surrounding RR’s fourth overseas player entering the pitch.

Avesh Khan comes and Warner welcomes him with a boundary. Too wide and Warner just had to time it past point. Another four, half-tracker and he pulls it towards square leg. Avesh gets his line and length back in the next five balls.

After his struggle in the 2023 edition, the 45-ball 84 against Delhi Capitals marks a coming-of-age moment for the 22-year-old Riyan Parag

Burger for his third over. Warner gets an inside edge and it goes for four! SHOT! This time he strikes it clean, pulled over midwicket for a SIX. Burger extracting pace off the wicket! Pant unable to time him well. 

Warner begins Boult’s third over with a ramp shot over fine leg for a SIX. Brilliantly timed that. SHOT! Another full ball and Warner lofts it straight for a SIX. Clean. 13 runs off the over. 

Burger continues. OUT! Marsh is gone. Castled. Length ball, Marsh tries to defend it with no feet moment and the ball crashes onto the stumps.

First ball, a loud appeal for LBW but umpire says not out. RR looks convinced and goes for a review. Pitching outside leg, and the decision stays not out. OUT! This short ball, hurried Bhui by pace and he gloves it straight to keeper.

And he begins his innings with a four! Guides it nicely towards deep third. A half-hearted LBW appeal by Burger but doesn’t convince the umpire. 

Boult continues and Warner smashes his short ball towards midwicket for four. And now Marsh drives a half volley for four. And Marsh finishes the over with another boundary! Full and straight and Marsh lofts it over the bowler’s head. 

Impact sub Nandre Burger is welcomed into the attack with a four! Marsh hits him for a boundary again, twice on the third and fourth ball. 13 runs off the over. 

Trent Boult with the new ball. Full and straight on the first ball and Warner defends. Slight delay. Some issue with the number of overseas players in the field. Two runs in the first over. 

Delhi Capitals needs 186 runs to win and it’ll need to special effort by at least one of the DC batters to chase this total down.

Riyan Parag scored the highest individual score by a Rajasthan Royals batting at number four position during the IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.

Nortje to bowl the final over. FOUR! A thick outside edge for Parag which runs between the keeper and the third man fielder. FOUR more! Pulled away through mid wicket. SIX! Clobbered over covers. FOUR through third man followed by a SIX over mid wicket. A single to finish the over. 25 runs in the final over.

Mukesh for his final over. Starts with a wide. SIX! Hetmyer is gifted a full toss and he slog sweeps it over mid wicket. FOUR! A wide yorker from Mukesh, Hetmyer slices it through extra cover. Hetmyer misses his slog on the next one, there is a sound as the ball passes the bat and DC takes a review for caught behind. No spike on UltraEdge and Hetmyer continues. Two runs to finish the over.

Anrich Nortje to bowl the next, Jurel on strike. FOUR! A miscued ramp shot, does not get the elevation as the ball rises on him, but still manages to place it wide of the keeper. BOWLED HIM! Another attempted ramp shot but this time he middles it straight onto his stumps.

FOUR! Jurel scoops the first delivery over mid wicket to pick his first boundary. A single next to short third man. FOUR for Parag! Flicks it through the square leg region. SIX! FIFTY FOR PARAG! Lofts an over-pitched delivery downtown to get a 34-ball half-century.

SIX! Parag gets one angling down leg from Khaleel and he chips it over deep backward square. FOUR! A wide yorker taken on the full and sliced through point. Four over covers now. Parag is switching gears. 15 runs from this over.

OUT! Ashwin tries to pull away Axar but holes out at deep mid wicket.

Kuldeep continues. Two singles in first two balls. There’s a stumping appeal against Ashwin as the ball slides down his leg side. Pant takes the bails off as Ashwin takes his weight forward. But he’s safe and well inside the crease. SIX! Ashwin steps out and pummels the ball over cow corner. 12 runs from the over.

Axar continues from the other end. Nearly five overs since the last boundary. DC bowlers tightening the screws here. And just as we say it, Parag pulls a half-tracker towards square leg for four. 

Kuldeep Yadav into the attack. Parag takes a single on the first ball. Buttler goes for a reverse sweep, gets beaten, an appeal by Pant for LBW but umpire says no. Kuldeep isn’t sure but Pant goes for a review. Ball tracking shows three reds and Buttler is GONE! Superb review.

Khaleel for his third. Buttler opens the face of the bat on the attempted yorker and takes a single. OUT! Samson is gone. Tries to make room towards leg side gets an outside edge straight to keeper.

And here he is, Anrich Nortje into the attack. Length ball first up, pushed for a single towards off side. Beats Samson by pace on the second ball. Chipped straight for a single on third ball. And another single on the fourth ball. A bouncer on the fifth ball, dot. Dot to end. 

A thick outside edge off Samson’s bat, just past the fielder at gully and it goes for four. Mukesh bowls a bouncer and Samson pulls him towards midwicket for another boundary. Length ball and this time Samson punches it past point another four. Three in three now. Samson pushes it straight but mid on dives to save the ball. Single. Buttler attempts a wild slog over covers but misses the ball. Single to end the over. 

Khaleel baits Buttler with a driving ball and beats him with pace. An outside edge JUST falls short of the wide second slip. Another dot ball. Khaleel trying to keep the ball away from the batters. Now he comes around the wicket attacking the stumps, Samson defends. A single to end the over. 

Mukesh Kumar from the other end. Buttler gets an inside edge towards fine leg and takes a single. Mukesh comes around the wicket to Jaiswal, who charges down and punches it past cover for first boundary of the match. A dot on the next ball. Hint of away swing, Jaiswal goes for a drive but misses it. OUT!! Jaiswal is castled. This time the ball came into the batter, on length, inside edge and crashes into the stumps.

Hint of outswing first up for Khaleel and Jaiswal punches it towards covers. Dot ball. A slight delay. Not sure what was it about. Khaleel drifts on the pads this time, slightly full, and Buttler clips it towards fine leg and runs a double. Another push towards mid off and the batters run a quick single. This time the ball came into Jaiswal, who tries the slog, but gets an inside edge onto the pads. Dot to finish the over.

Sanju Samson: We would have bowled first, dew could come in the second innings. All the 10 teams are geared up and prepared well, we just need to follow the process and not think too much, then we will be fine. Same team for us.
