Rahul Tripathi made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka on his home ground at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday.
The 31-year-old is the 102nd player to feature in a T20I for India.
Sunrisers Hyderabad retained Tripathi ahead of the mini-auction in the Indian Premier League.
The Pune lad came in for Sanju Samson, who injured his knee during the first match of the series in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The right-handed batter played 125 T20 games and scored 2801 at an average of 26.93, striking at the rate of 134.14
