Harshal Patel's knock of 62 in 34 balls guided Haryana to a three-wicket win over Assam in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 fixture at the Bandra Kurla Complex on Monday.
Put in to bat, Assam rode on Riyan Parag's 58 to put up 158-8 in 20 overs, and in reply, Haryana took firm control of the game with Patel providing the side a solid start. Seamer Pritam Das tried putting pressure on Haryana, scalping two wickets, but it was not enough as it won with two balls to spare.
On a surface that offered very little to the bowlers, Haryana batsmen ensured there was no slip-up.
Earlier, Patel also scalped a couple of wickets to ensure Haryana had the upper hand. While Riyan tried steadying the ship, Assam lost quick wickets after his dismissal.
India international Yuzvendra Chahal, who played in the third ODI between India and Bangladesh in Nagpur on Sunday, joined the Haryana side on Monday. However, the team management decided to rest him for the fixture. The leggie could be seen in action against Bengal on Tuesday.
