Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will continue its quest for European glory when it hosts Atalanta United in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Man City began its campaign with a 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk and followed it up with a 2-0 drubbing of Dinamo Zagreb. Atalanta, on the other hand, lost to both sided and is yet to open its account.

While City has both Group C matches without conceding, Guardiola has acknowledged his side need to improve.

"I'm very confident – I have full trust in my team but there's a lot of strong teams [in the Champions League]," he told reporters. "The Champions League will be won in the [penalty] box and so far we've not been very strong in the box.

"We've made mistakes we shouldn't make at this level, for example in the match against Watford, we created a lot of opportunities but scored very little. This is what I'm thinking.

"We're good at defending and we need to score at the right moment," he said.

24 - Since his Champions League debut for Manchester City in September 2015, Raheem Sterling has had a hand in 24 goals in the competition (15 goals, 9 assists); five more than any other English player in that time.

- Atalanta is the first Italian side to lose its first two Champions League matches. The last team to lose its opening three in the competition was Otelul Galati of Romania in 2011-12, which lost all six of its group stage games that season.

- Dinamo Zagreb vs Shakhtar Donetsk -

The second Group C clash will see a mid-table clash between Dinamo Zagreb and Shakhtar Donetsk in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Both sides come into the tie level on three points, while Dinamo is narrowly ahead owing to a favourable goal difference. Both teams have one win each and a loss. Dinamo beat Atalanta 4-0, while it lost 2-0 to City.

Shakhtar, on the other hand, began its campaign with a 3-0 loss to City and followed it up with a 2-1 win over Atalanta.

A win today will see either side seal the second spot on Group C.

18 - Shakhtar's run of 18 Champions League games without a clean sheet is the longest current run of any of the 32 teams participating in the 2019-20 competition.

- Dinamo Zagreb's tally of just two shots against Manchester City on matchday two was the fewest by a team in a Champions League group stage game since December 2016, when Sevilla had two against Lyon.
