The FIFA World Cup saw Argentina beat France 4-2 on penalties in what was on of the most thrilling WC finals ever, at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on December 18, 2022.
Lionel Messi, the captain of La Albiceleste scored twice, including the final equaliser against France that forced the match into penalty shootout, where Lionel Scaloni’s side finally emerged victorious ending the 36-year wait for another World Cup win.
This was the first FIFA World Cup to be played mid-season, in the winter and club football will resume in a week’s time, in most parts of the World.
After the final, the question arises where will the World Cup winners play after returning home from the tournament.
Where will Lionel Messi play after the FIFA World Cup?
The 35-year-old will return to France to play for Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 after the FIFA World Cup 2022. It will be an interesting return for him as he will share the dressing room with Kylian Mbappe, who ended up on the losing side in the final in Qatar.
