Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) and KRYHPSA played out a 1-1 draw in a Hero Indian Women’s League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong.
Bala Devi and Roja Devi were the goal-scorers for the sides; both goals were scored in the first half. There were, however, missed opportunities in both halves. In the second minute itself, Ratanbala Devi’s free-kick went inches over the ESU goal, and four minutes later, Kamala Devi, for KRYHPSA, shot wide of the goal when she had only the goal-keeper to beat.

KRYHPSA didn’t have to rue to chance for too long, though. In the 14th minute, Bala Devi’s cracking shot found the back of the net to put the team ahead.
Chances galore
ESU retaliated by mounting pressure on the opposition defence, but it wasn’t until the 43rd minute that it created a clear chance; after a failed clearance, the ball fell to Prameshwori Devi inside the box, but she failed to be on target. Roja Devi, however, managed the equaliser — a volley from inside the box — during extra time.
There were a number of goal-scoring chances created in the second half, too. in the 46th minute, Kamala Devi’s attempt was thwarted by the KRYHPSA custodian, and in the 60th minute, a goal-line clearance prevented the team from falling behind.
KRYHPSA found a chance to go ahead in 75th minute, when it was awarded a penalty. Ashalata Devi, however, shot wide of the goal.
Final Score: ESU 1 (Roja Devi 45+1') -1 KRYHPSA (Bala Devi 14')
