Rising Students Club (RSC) beat defending champion Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) 5—4 on penalties to win the second edition of the Hero Indian Women's League (IWL) football tournament on Saturday.

ESU went 1-0 up when Roja Devi, in the 13th minute, slotted home from outside the box, leaving the opposition goalkeeper wrong-footed.

RSC had a chance to equalise, but Supriya Routray scuffed a shot wide in the 40th minute. However, against the run of play, it was awarded a penalty in the 71st minute following a foul inside the box.

Sanju scored from the spot to level proceedings 1—1 at full time. Rising Students Club eventually won 5—4 on penalties.
