MATCH REPORT:  ISL 2021-22: ATK Mohun Bagan thrashes rival SC East Bengal 3-0 in Kolkata Derby

FULL-TIME (SC EAST BENGAL 0-3 ATK MOHUN BAGAN)!!

90+3' Manvir does well to dink the ball to Williams at the far-post. Williams shoots on the volley but skies his shot.

90+2' Krishna does really well to hold the ball and slip a pass to Prabir Das on the right flank. The full-back does well to keep the ball but he ultimately loses possession.

THREE ADDITIONAL MINUTES!!

89' ATKMB's Joni Kauko is today's 'Hero of the Match'. He has been influential in pulling the strings throughout the game.

87' ATKMB SUB- Ashutosh Mehta replaces Tangri.

87' Adil Khan with some top-notch defending to clear the ball from Krishna's feet just before the forward was about to dispatch his shot.

85' Perosevic does well to go past his man and whip a ball across goal in search of a teammate. However, the cross is intercepted and the ball is cleared by ATKMB.

83' BOOKING- Perosevic is shown yellow for kicking the ball away after being called offiside. Frustration kicking in right now.

82' A good ball by Devrisevic to Perosevic but the latter is offiside.

79' Joni Kauko has gone to the ground off the ball. Replay shows he had a clash with Md. Rafique.  He takes his time but gets back up. He is okay to continue.

78' FOUL- Carl McHugh fouls Suvam Sen as the ball is delivered from a ATKMB corner. It is a painful one but Sen should be okay to continue.

76' ATKMB SUB- Prabir Das replaces Colaco.

76' Match resumes!!

75' Match halts for a drinks break!!

73' SHOT- Another brilliant move by ATKMB. Kauko does well to slip a pass to Lenny. Lenny gets it to Williams who sets it up for Colaco. Colaco tries to pass his shot into the net but skies his effort.

71' SCEB showing more attacking intent than the first half but it has not really created any substantial chances to threaten ATKMB's goal.

68' CHANCE- A good ball delivered inside the box by Kiyam, which finds Rafique. Rafique shoots towards goal but it is not well-taken as the ball goes out of play.

67' ATKMB SUB- David Williams replaces Boumous.

64' A great ball played by Boumous to Krishna. The Fiji striker was clear on goal but his touch let him down, which allowed Suvam Sen to venture out and grab the ball.

63' SC East Bengal has still not managed to get a shot on target in the match. Certainly a matter of concern for coach Diaz.

60' Deepak Tangri has taken an awkward fall and is currently receiving medical attention.

59' SCEB SUB- Daniel Chima Chukwu replaces Sidoel.

58' SHOT- Manvir is played a great ball from the left flank. He flashes a shot across goal but it is not on target.

56' CHANCE- A great move by ATKMB as Lenny slips a great ball to Krishna. Krishna cuts back and delivers a ball to Boumous, who sets up Kauko. The Finland international could not get a decent contact as Suvam gets the ball.

55' SCEB SUB- Adil Khan replaces Gaikwad.

54' Another injury concern for SC East Bengal as Raju Gaikwad is on the ground.

53' Sidoel delivers a ball inside the box, with Perosevic the intended target. However, Amrinder read the cross well and clutches and gets to the ball first.

51' A great backheel by Krishna from the right flank finds Manvir in space. He passes it back instead of surging inside the box, which allows SCEB players to get back in numbers.

48' A great ball through the middle by Krishna sends Manvir away. He goes past SCEB keeper Suvam but his touch was too heavy as the ball goes out of play.

47' ATKMB on the attack right from the whistle.

46' HALF-TIME CHANGE- Manolo Diaz replaces Tomislav Mrcela with Amir Devrisevic

WE ARE BACK FOR THE SECOND HALF!!

HALF-TIME! ATK Mohun Bagan has stamped its authority on this Kolkata Derby as it heads into the interval with a commanding 3-0 lead. SCEB has had little to cheer for and its captain and 'keeper, Arindam, had to be replaced owing to an injury. The Red and Golds have a massive challenge awaiting them in the second 45.

45+4' Perosevic has a golden chance! Rafique lays it for him with a deft touch and Perosevic has a crack at goal but has his shot blocked by Kotal.

45+3' Mahesh Singh has a go a goal from distance and wins SCEB its first corner of the game.

45+2' Gaikwad makes a fantastically-timed last-ditch tackle to deny Krishna a clear shot on goal.

44' A lovely bit of play from ATKMB! Liston, Boumous and Bose combine on the left and the latter floats in a cross. Krishna is the intended target but the Fijian's first touch lets him down. Four minutes of added time to be played.

40' STAT - The Mariners have only lost once after opening the scoring in 17 ISL games!

38' Inches away from a fourth goal! Buomous receives a long and controls it exquisitely with the side of his boot. He plays a teasing cross towards the far post where Kauko is racing in, but the Finnish midfielder can't get there in time.

36' SC East Bengal has simply been unable to match up to ATKMB's attack. Manvir has now been brought down and Boumous takes the free-kick.

33' Double change for SC East Bengal as Arindam, who seems to have hurt his knee, has been replaced by Suvam Sen. Hnamte, who got booked early on, has been taken off for Amarjit Singh Kiyam.

Match halts due to a drinks break!!

31' CLOSE- A great ball fired into the box by Pritam Kotal from the left flank. Kauko connected well with the cross but the ball misses the goal by a whisker.

30' Krishna attempts to switch play as he pings a long ball to the left flank. Kotal ran for it but the weight of the cross was too much.

28' A trademark Raju Gaikwad long throw inside ATKMB's box. It travelled the distance but the Mariners clear the ball without much fuss.

28' SAVE- Manvir with a thunderous shot at goal but Arindam makes the save this time.

27' BOOKING- Darren Sidoel becomes the second SCEB player to see yellow after bringing down Boumous.

26' SC East Bengal needs to change something here. It is completely looking out of his depth. Its men against boys right now.

25' Arindam seems to have tweaked his knee. Further bad news for SC East Bengal.

23' GOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! ITS THREE FOR ATKMB!!! ITS LISTON COLACO!! A horrible mistake by Arindam as he comes out to clear the ball, with Liston already in the chase. He spills an easy save, which allows Liston to put the ball inside an empty net.

22' Hmante clashes with Subhasish as both players go to the ground. It is ATKMB's freekick. Hnamte needs to be careful. He has already been booked.

21' STAT TO NOTE!!

18' Liston goes to the ground inside SCEB's box. ATKMB players demand a penalty but referee says nothing doing.

18' SCEB was looking quite in control but two quickfire goals has totally taken the game away from them.

14' GOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! ATKMB HAS SCORED ANOTHER!! ITS MANVIR!! SCEB fails to clear its lines, which allows Manvir to pounce on the ball. He lashes it at Arindam's near-post and the ball rattles the back of the net.

12' GOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! ATKMB SCORES!!! ITS DANGER-MAN KRISHNA!! A well-worked goal as Kotal went on the overlap and delivered a great ball inside the box from the right flank. Krishna shoots on the volley and scores.

11' ATKMB getting into the game gradually. Right now they are seeing more of the ball and asking occasional questions to the SCEB backline.

9' SHOT- Roy Krishna becomes the first player to get a shot on target. It was a well-taken shot but Arindam did well to position himself and save it.

7' BOOKING- Hnamte sees yellow and becomes the first player to get booked in the match.

6' Both defences maintaining their shape well in the early stages of this game. It is quite crowded in the middle of the park.

3' Good pressing by the ATKMB players. SCEB players are not getting much time on the ball inside their own half.

2' A lively start to the game. Early pressure from SC East Bengal as it wins its first corner in the match.

1' KICK-OFF!!  (Pritam Kotal wins the toss and chooses the side. ATKMB will be playing from right to left in the first half. SCEB are set to kick-start the game).

MATCH PREVIEW: ISL 2021 Kolkata Derby preview: In-form Bagan set for resurging SC East Bengal

It’s that time of the  Indian Super League  (ISL 2021-22) when the famed Kolkata derby comes around!  SC East Bengal  will gun for its first win under new coach Manolo Diaz when it locks horns with its city rival  ATK Mohun Bagan  at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Goa.

The two sides have made contrasting starts to the season - SC East Bengal showed plenty of promise but was forced to settle for a draw with Jamshedpur FC, while ATK Mohun Bagan brought its A-game to the fore and stormed to a 4-2 triumph over Kerala Blasters.

Diaz’s side will need to be watertight in defence to contain the dangerous ATK Mohun Bagan attack, which features the likes of  Roy Krishna  and  Hugo Boumous.

“For me, the whole squad of ATKMB is a threat. Hugo and Krishna are good players who can score goals, but one or two players can’t win you a match. The team has to perform well collectively to win. So we’re making plans to stop the team instead of focusing on individuals,” said Diaz.

The former Real Madrid B team coach added, “Our focus will be on minimising mistakes, having a strong structure, and capitalising on the weak points of ATKMB. We must be compact, give good, secure passes, and create opportunities in the attacking half because it becomes difficult if we’re defending the whole time.”

SC East Bengal lost both its games against ATK Mohun Bagan last season, and Diaz is keen to snap the losing streak. “I know it is only our second official match of the season, but we don’t want to come up with any excuses. We know ATKMB is a good team and is helmed by an able coach who has experience in the ISL, but we will try to do our best,” he said.

ATK Mohun Bagan coach  Antonio Habas,  the only manager to have won the ISL title twice, has demanded greater intensity from his side. “We have to be more ambitious. In the second half of our last match, we weren’t as comfortable as we would like when they scored. We have to play the match with the same intensity for 90 minutes,” he said.

Considering all the history and iconic duels between the two teams, the Spaniard quipped, “The past doesn’t matter. We want to win the match and give 100% respect to the opponent.”
