Gujarat FortuneGiants joined Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 2019) in season 5 and has been the most consistent team since. In two years, the Manpreet Singh-coached side has made it to two successive finals, but hasn't managed to get its hands on the title.
Manpreet, who led Patna Pirates to one of its three titles during his playing days, will surely hope the third time is the charm as the Gujarat side heads into season seven with a balanced overall squad.
RAIDERS: Sachin Tanwar, More GB, Abolfazl Maghsodloumahali, Sonu Jaglan, Lalit Chaudhary, Harmanjit Singh, Gurvinder Singh
Sachin Tanwar joined PKL through its Future Kabaddi Heroes (FKH) programme and has emerged as one of the brightest talents in the league. He has been Gujarat's top raider and was named the league's best debutant in season 5. He followed that performance with an impressive 190 points in season 6, thereby establishing himself as one of the best upcoming raiders.
He will have company in More GB, but the latter isn't quite as prolific as Sachin and the lack of a capable second raider could hurt the side this season.
DEFENDERS: Sunil Kumar, Parvesh Bahinswal, Amit Kharb, Ankit, Sonu Gahlawat, Sumit Malik, Ruturaj Shivji Koravi
Gujarat is best known for its impenetrable defence and the team management did really well to hold on to its defensive duo of Parvesh Bhainswal and Sunil Kumar. The two were, in fact, PKL's best successful defensive pair last season and combined to score 77 tackle points, 19 points more than U Mumba’s combination of Fazel Atrachali and Surender. They will be supported by the arrival of right corner defender Ruturaj Koravi and left corner Pankaj.
ALL ROUNDERS: Rohit Gulia, Vinod Kumar, Mohammad Shazid Hossain, Pankaj
Like Sachin, Rohit also joined Gujarat via the FKH. With 99 points in two seasons, he is a handy substitute raider, but will have to do more to earn a spot in the starting 7.
