Paula Radcliffe has withdrawn from the Norwich Union Super Grand Prix in London on August 8 because of a leg injury. The Commonwealth 5000m champion had been expected to compete over the distance at the Crystal Palace meeting.
But Radcliffe has decided not to jeopardise her chances of a first gold medal at the World Championships in Paris. "I am obviously very disappointed about having to miss London and the chance to compete in front of a home crowd," said the marathon world record holder. "But in order to maximise my chances for Paris I have had to revise my racing plans." Radcliffe suffered an unspecified injury while training at her French base in Font Romeau.
