Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra has set up a never-seen-before High Performance Training centre in India for elite athletes that boasts of cutting edge equipments.

The state-of-the-art centre in Mohali was inaugurated by Sports Authority of India’s Director General Injeti Srinivas and visited by a 12-member team of SAI experts from different centres. The athletes, after blocking their slots, can train free of cost.

The 2008 Beijing Olympic gold medallist has helped setting up systems and structures in place which will help athletes assess as well as train, a first in India.

Each of the high performance equipment in the center is fitted with 3D cameras, motion sensors and digital screens and in each of them an athlete can check 3D imaging of his own body and his or her body equilibrium and other functional aspects real time.

The ace rifler shooter’s father AS Bindra said that “his son always wanted to give something back to the sport”.
