Haryana ends Khelo India 2018 campaign with 38 golds

Maharashtra with 111, as compared to Haryana’s 102, had the most number of medals, but it had only 36 gold, apart from 32 silver.

Maisnam Meiraba of Manipur bounced back to score a 16-21, 21-14, 21-18 victory over Aakash Yadav of Uttar Pradesh in the boys final of badminton, as the Khelo India School Games concluded at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here on Thursday. The girls title was bagged by Malvika Bansod as she eased past Aakarshi Kashyap of Chhattisgarh 21-12, 21-10.

In boxing, Haryana won 10 of the 26 gold medals in the boys and girls sections and was followed by Maharashtra with seven. Jharkhand (2), Rajasthan (20, Punjab (2), Manipur (2) and Karnataka were the other teams that managed to get the gold.

Haryana topped the overall medals table with 38 gold, 26 silver and 38 bronze. Maharashtra with 111, as compared to Haryana’s 102, had the most number of medals, but it had only 36 gold, apart from 32 silver.

Delhi was third with 25 gold, 29 silver and 40 bronze medals. Karnataka (16-11-17), Manipur (13-13-8), Uttar Pradesh (10-24-28), Punjab (10-5-20), Kerala (7-11-10), Tamil Nadu (6-11-11), West Bengal (5-4-6) were the other prominent medal winners.
