JFI selects 12-member judo team for 12th South Asian Games

Judo Federation of India (JFI) has selected a 12-member team for the 12th South Asian Games to be held in Guwahati and Shillong next month.

Judo Federation of India (JFI) has selected a 12-member team for the 12th South Asian Games to be held in Guwahati and Shillong next month.

The team was selected at the open selection trials held at SAI Centre, Bhopal. The judo competition in the Games will be held on February 15 and 16 at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Shillong, Meghalaya.

In the previous edition held in 2010 in Bangladesh, Indian judo team had won 5 gold and 1 bronze medals, the most by any participating country.

Men’s Team: Bhupinder Singh (—60kg), Jasleen Singh Saini (—66kg), Manjeet Nandal (—73kg), Karanjit Singh Maan (—81kg), Avtar Singh (—90kg), Shubham Kumar (—100kg)

Women’s Team: L Sushila Devi (—48kg), Th Kalpana Devi (—52kg), Angom Anita Chanu (—57kg), Huidrom Sunibala Devi (—63kg), Pooja (—70kg), Aruna (—78kg).
