The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), in its annual general body meeting held on Wednesday, has decided to drop para shooting events from all its competitions including the national championships.

"There is a separate organisation which controls shooting activities including selection of teams for Para World Cups, Para World Championship and Para Olympics," the NRAI reasoned.

The mixed skeet event will be part of the schedule for the National championship, and events will be conducted for the juniors as well.

The NRAI has decided not to pursue the processing of import permit for a shooter if all the required formalities and documents are not furnished within 90 days from the date of email from the national body to the shooter concerned.

"No reminder will be sent in this regard," it stressed.

The shooters need not submit copy of arm license at the time of application. However, the shooter will have to submit copy of arm license to NRAI for verification of weapons in his/her possession which were imported or otherwise.

"This is mandatory as per Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports/Ministry of Home/DGFT requirement," it said.
