Arpit Goel was in very good form in the men’s 25-metre rapid fire pistol as he pipped the 17-year-old Adarsh Singh 4-3 in the shoot-off after the two tied on 28 in the third National shooting selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Saturday.

Arpit had earlier shot 586 in topping the qualification, while Anhad Jawanda came up with the second best score of 583. Gurmeet Singh, Rushirat Barot and Olympian Gurpreet Singh were the others to make the final.

Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar placed 14th with 567.

In the women’s 50-metre rifle prone event, former World Champion Tejaswini Sawant topped with 623.3, as she beat national champion Anjum Moudgil by 1.7 point.

The experienced Kuheli Gangulee placed third ahead of Meena Kumari (617.4) and Gaayathri Nithyanadam (616.3).
