The Indian men's doubles pair of G. Sathiyan and Anthony Amalraj lost to the top-seeded pair of Youngsik Jeong and Sangsee Lee of Korea 14-12, 11-9, 11-8 in the semifinals of the ITTF Australian Open table tennis championships.

Earlier, Sathiyan and Amalraj reached the semifinals with a 5-11, 11-6, 14-12, 11-6 win over Korea's Woojin Jang and Jonghoon Lim, seeded three.

This was the first time an Indian duo reached the last four in a ITTF World Tour platinum event.

Speaking to ITTF TV, both shared their happiness in making it to the last four. "It was really good playing with Sathiyan. We are playing after [a gap of] two years. We started playing in Korean Open (held between July 4 and 7).

"It was a great win,"said Sathiyan after entering the semifinal. "The Koreans are the best in doubles. We need to take this confidence in our next match."

India's coach Sandeep Gupta remarked that it was a "proud moment for us."
