Leander Paes and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico went down fighting against the top seeds Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic 6-4, 3-6, 5-10 in the doubles pre-quarterfinals of the ATP Tour event in Chengdu, China, on Monday.
The doubles draw in the $1,183,360 also features Rohan Bopanna partnering Srira Balaji, while Divij Sharan and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan have their regular partners Artem Sitak of New Zealand and Austin Krajicek of the US.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran won two rounds in the singles qualifying event to assure himself 12 ATP points and set up a first-round clash against Matteo Barrettini of Italy.
Fellow Davis Cupper Ramkumar Ramanathan did the same in another part of China, as he qualified for the ATP event in Shenzhen, and set up a first round against Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic.
