One of the brightest prospect in Indian tennis, Adil Kalyanpur, will train at the Rafa Nadal Academy.

The new high-performance academy, built this year by Rafael Nadal in his home town of Mallorca, will offer a special Professional Tennis Program, tailored to the requirements of the Indian lad, through the expertise of the legend’s uncle, Toni Nadal.

Adil had been inspired by Rafael Nadal at the Chennai Open in 2008. Afterwards, he had been improving steadily season after season, scaling the ranks with speed. He had helped the Indian Junior Davis Cup team qualify for the World Group stage this season. He has also been performing well in the ITF junior circuit.

He had won the doubles title with Sidhant Banthia in the UK under-14 championship on the grass courts of Wimbledon two years ago. He was also selected for the Champion Tennis League organised by Vijay Amritraj and drafted into the Hyderabad team.

The gangling Adil, with a big game groomed by coach Vishaal Uppal, also qualified for the French Open junior wild card event and reached Paris to check his expertise on clay this season.

"We are very happy to work with Adil. The whole team will work very hard in order to maximise his potential and opportunities. India has a growing tennis scene, they are doing great things there and we are really excited to be a part of it," said Toni Nadal, in a statement.

The academy will be exclusively for students, with an American International School. It will have 26 tennis courts, clay and hard, outdoor and indoor; fitness centre, two swimming pools, mini-football pitch, apart from a clinic specialised in sports medicine, physiotherapy and nutrition.
