Fourth seed Vishesh Jainish Patel defeated Saheb Sodhi 6-7 (10), 6-4, 6-1 in a pool-D league match of the Road to Wimbledon Under-14 boys tennis tournament, on the grass courts of the Delhi Gymkhana Club, here on Wednesday.
Having lost the first match to Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje, Vishesh was in trouble when he lost a long-drawn tie-break in the first set, but bounced right back into contention thereafter.

Sukhpreet, however, lost his second match to sixth seed Ajay Singh, who gained a stranglehold over the proceedings with his second win. There could be a three-way tie in the group, and that may lead to the two qualifiers being decided on the basis of the difference between their games won and lost.
Interestingly poised
Group-A was also interestingly poised even though the top seed Udit Gogoi had asserted himself by winning two matches so far, dropping four games in all. Fifth seed Arjun Gohad was beaten by Monil Rohit Lotlikar, who will be playing Jasmeet Duhan in the last league match on Thursday.
In contrast, Arjun will challenge Udit Gogoi, who is in pursuit of his second win in the group.
In the two other groups, the seeded players, Aman Dahiya, Deep Munim, Chirag Duhan and Ayushmaan Arjeria confirmed their qualification with two wins each.
The qualification to the knock-out phase will be critical as the top two players from the tournament will make it to the U.K. Under-14 championship to be played in Wimbledon in August.
