The doubles pair of Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov lost to Nikola Mektic and Franko Skugor at the Japan Open 2019.

Rohan Bopanna in partnership with Denis Shapovalov of Canada was beaten 6-4, 5-7, 11-9 in the doubles quarterfinals by Nikola Mektic and Franko Skugor of Croatia at the Japan Open 2019, on Thursday.

Divij Sharan in partnership with Artem Sitak of New Zealand was also beaten in the quarterfinals in straight sets by the French second seeds Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

The quarterfinal entry was worth 90 ATP points and $15,500 each to the two teams.

In the Challenger in Barcelona, Ramkumar Ramanathan in partnership with Sergio Martos Gornes of Spain made the doubles semifinals, by beating Spaniards Inigo Cervantes and Oriol Roca Batalla 12-10 in the super tie-break.

In the ITF men’s Futures in Turkey, Adil Kalyanpur beat seventh seed Alexander Shevchenko of Russia 7-6(7), 6-4 in the pre-quarterfinals. He also made the doubles semifinals with Kelsey Stevenson of Canada.

In the ITF women’s tournament in South Africa, Zeel Desai made the singles quarterfinals and the doubles semifinals.
