Tennis Premier League to start from December 12

There will be a total of eight teams with 88 players in all; the junior boys and girls will be selected through talent hunt in four cities — Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.

The second edition of the Tennis Premier League, offering a total prize of Rs. 60 lakh, is scheduled to be held at the Celebration Sports Club in Andheri, Mumbai from December 12 to 15.

Apart from leading players like Arjun Kadhe and Ankita Raina, the event will also feature under-18 girls and under-14 boys, apart from wheelchair participants.

There will be a total of eight teams with 88 players in all. The junior boys and girls will be selected through talent hunt in four cities, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi. The selection of the juniors will be held on October 20, 23 and on November 3 and 10 in the four cities in that order. The registration for the talent hunt started on Monday, and will be open till October 5.

"Hope this league helps bring a steady platform to tennis and promote the sport in our country’’, said tennis ace Leander Paes who has been associated with the tournament since last season.

"The response from the first edition was overwhelming and we got tremendous support and encouragement from the Bollywood and sports fraternity’’, said Kunal Thakkur, the founder of the event.
