Vijay Sundar Prashanth wins doubles title in Bahrain

Vijay Sundar Prashanth in partnership with Alexander Igoshin of Russia won the doubles title with a fighting 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 10-8 victory over the Dutch pair of Jesper De Jong and Sidane Pontiodikroma in the final.

Vijay Sundar Prashanth in partnership with Alexander Igoshin of Russia won the doubles title with a fighting 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 10-8 victory over the Dutch pair of Jesper De Jong and Sidane Pontiodikroma in the final of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament in Manama, Bahrain.

It was the first title of the season and 20th career doubles title for the 32-year-old Vijay, who has won two Challenger titles with Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni, apart from many other titles with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Sriram Balaji.

In the doubles final in the ITF men’s Futures in Egypt, the second seeded Dutch pair of Igor Sijsling and Botic Van De Zandschulp beat S.D. Prajwal Dev and Adil Kalyanpur 7-6(8), 2-6, 10-6. It was a welcome march to the final for the unseeded Indian pair from Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, in the Challenger in China, Sriram Balaji in partnership with Hans Hach Verdugo of Mexico will play the Aussies, Max Purcell and Luke Saville, in the doubles final on Sunday.
