Rahul Aware lost to Beko Lomtadze, a former world silver-medallist, of Georgia in the 61kg semifinals of the World Wrestling Championships on Saturday.
He, however, has a chance to secure bronze with the bout scheduled for Sunday (September 22).
Aware trailed his Georgian opponent 1-7 after round one and ultimately went down 6-10.
Earlier in the day, Aware beat former Asian champion Rassul Kaliyev of Kazakhstan 10-7 in the quarterfinals to progress to the last-four.
