Tejaswin Shankar wins NCAA silver with season-best jump

Indian national record holder Tejaswin Shankar bagged the silver medal at the American NCAA track and field championships at Austin in Texas with a season-best jump of 2.27m.

Tejaswin Shankar is now three centimetres away from qualifying (2.30m) for this September’s World championships in Doha.

National record holder Tejaswin Shankar posted a season-best jump of 2.27m to clinch the men’s high jump silver in the American NCAA track and field championships at Austin, Texas, on Friday.

The 20-year-old from Delhi, last year’s NCAA champion and representing Kansas State University in the US where he is pursing business administration, was tied with JuVaughn Harrison on 2.27m at the end of the event, but he lost the gold on a countback.

 

Tejaswin, whose national record stands at 2.29m, is now three centimetres away from qualifying (2.30m) for this September’s World championships in Doha.
