A flying start: K.L. Rahul left behind the disappoinment of his first-innings dismissal during a strokefilled 67-ball 44. The Karnataka batsman hit three boundaries and a six to take India off to a breezy start.

Gotcha! Josh Hazlewood got the better of K.L. Rahul who looked to lift the Australian seamer over mid-off on the up, but got an edge through to Tim Paine.

Dropping Anchor: Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara added 71 runs for the third-wicket, wearing down the opposition bowlers. Kohli, during his 104-ball 34, became the fourth Indian to score 1000 Test runs in Australia.

Big fish: Nathan Lyon snapped up the crucial wicket of Kohli at the fag end of third day's play, leaving the door ajar for an Australian comeback.
