“Good to see. That's a catch when you look back, you don't feel bad about getting out,” Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli had said of his dismissal — against Delhi Daredevils at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru last month — when Trent Boult took a one-handed stunner at the deep square leg boundary.
On Thursday, at the same venue and against the same opponent, Rashid Khan threw his hat in the ‘catch of the season’ ring. The Sunrisers Hyderabad spinner, fielding at deep mid-wicket, took a spectacular one-handed catch to dismiss the dangerous Colin de Grandhomme (40 off 17 balls) off Siddharth Kaul.
It was a powerful stroke by Grandhomme, and Khan plucked the offering out of thin air. He couldn’t believe it for a few seconds.
Though RCB ended at 218/6 in 20 overs, Khan’s effort — at par with Boult — is definitely one of the best in the season, and the tournament.
Later, AB de Villiers joined the club, taking a one-handed catch at the leg-side boundary to dismiss Alex Hales.
