Rahul Tripathi took a good measure of the Chepauk surface ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad match against Chennai Super Kings. The batsman has been in fine form this season scoring 124 runs in five matches with an unbeaten 74 to his credit.

MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl first. The skipper sighted cloudy decision and dew behind his decision to field. Aiden Markram opined he would have also bowled but said the focus is playing a good all-round game.

Akash Singh provided Chennai with an early breakthrough by removing the dangerous Harry Brook, courtesy of a brilliant catch by Ruturaj Gaikwad at the backward point region. The opener fell for a 13-ball 18.

Ravindra Jadeja removed Abhishek Sharma and broke a promising 36-run stand with Rahul Tripathi. The wicket helped CSK take control of the game as Jadeja went on to dismiss Tripathi, who fell for a run-a-ball 21, while Abhishek scored 34 off 26 balls. Both youngsters seemed to enjoy batting on a good wicket and got starts but failed to convert into big ones. Jadeja did the magic for Chennai with a brilliant spell.

MS Dhoni scripted another new record as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper now tops the list of most catches in T20s. Dhoni, with 208 catches surpassed South Africa’s Quinton de Kock who was on top of the list.

Ravindra Jadeja led the charge with the ball by picking a brilliant three-wicket haul as the Chennai bowlers hunted in packs with the all-rounder orchestrating a collapse as Hyderabad lost wickets at regular intervals and struggled to pace their innings.

Maheesh Theekshana brought out his signature celebration and the spinner continued to impress with his off-break spin bowling and picked the crucial wicket of Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram.

Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad gave Chennai a flying start and scored 60 runs in the PowerPlay to give the yellow army an early advantage in the run chase. Hyderabad bowlers struggled to make inroads and ran out of ideas of how to stop the Chennai openers from scoring quick runs.

Devon Conway smashed a brilliant 33-ball half-century as the CSK opener hammered his third fifty on the trot to put Chennai ahead in the run chase against Hyderabad.

After a fabulous start, Chennai stuttered a bit in its chase as Mayank Markande cleaned up Ambati Rayudu with a googly to keep the CSK dugout tensed. Hyderabad staged a late fightback with its bowlers choking the home batsmen making it a tense run chase.

Devon Convey and MS Dhoni are all smiles after the opener held his nerve to guide Chennai to a comprehensive win over Hyderabad. Conway took the game deep to help Chennai secure a seven-wicket win.
