The 12th edition of the  Indian Premier League  got underway with the first match being played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Eight teams — Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals are competing for the  IPL  2019 trophy. The Orange cap is won by the leading run-scorer and the Purple cap goes to the top wicket-taker.
